chicago is so two years ago

aside from slight exhaustion and a serious need for some alone-time, the weekend trip was pretty fabulous.
toledo is, without question, one of the most breathtakingly beautiful cities i could ever hope to see.
laura, since you are probably the first to read this, i will tell you straight away -
we are forgoing madrid and heading straight to toledo.
i just decided.
you can thank me later.

brief rundown of cultural events:
toured the palacio real [royal palace].
toured plaza mayor and the puerta del sol.
had some free time to roam the city.
got minorly lost in madrid.
experienced the underground sewer system also known as the madrid metro.
toured toledo by bus.
toured toledo by foot.
visited a very large, very old cathedral; for 2 hours.
shopped around some market streets.
enjoyed the madrid night life, very near the hotel as to avoid the bathroom metro.
appreciated some of my absolute favorite paintings of the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th century in the prado.

well, that about rounds off the trip in a nutshell.
luckily the weater was absolutely gorgeous.
75-90 degrees all weekend.
excellent conditions for photos.

plaza mayor: see placard.
flag.
of spain.
spain's flag.
 this is actually the cathedral.
i didn't get a good photo of the palacio real because the plaza was full of people.
not pleased.
 organ.
gold.
beautiful.
streets and buildings.
a neat lamp
and a yellow building.

 statue in plaza mayor.
tavern down a quaint back-alley in toledo.
 i want one please. adorable.
 small streets. big buildings.
castles.

and now, i will leave you with part of the e-mail oscar sent me before i left:
